Required Books, Supplies and Uniform Requirements

The Veterinary Technician Program has several of the course texts online and available for download. E-Texts are an excellent way to learn and study as they provide interactive materials that can enhance and solidify learning in an easily accessible online environment. Some courses in the Veterinary Technician Program will require you to have a hard copy of the text. Please confirm this with the professor of the course if there is a requirement for hard copy or E-Text.

Hard copy textbooks are available for purchase at Algonquin College’s Connections, the Campus Store, in H building. More information on the book store can be found at:

2 white, long sleeve, knee length lab coats

A lab coat is to be worn at all times while participating in on-campus laboratory sessions such as the Comparative Anatomy and Physiology lab. A second lab coat is required for animal husbandry rotations. The lab coats can be purchased from Connections, the Campus Bookstore or a supplier of your choice.

2 sets of scrubs, one forest green and one navy blue

Connections, the Campus Bookstore, carries the scrubs required for the Veterinary Technician Program. Please note that the forest green scrubs are not required until semester 2 starting in January.

Veterinary Kits

Veterinary kits will be used in all four semesters of the program and must be purchased for semester one. The kit contains items that are required throughout the duration of the program and include a stethoscope, bandage scissors, protective eyewear, thermometer and thermometer covers. The purpose of a vet kit is to ensure all students have the same high quality equipment. More information on the kit can be found here
