Stem Cell Registration and Donation with Canadian Blood Services

The primary objective of our community placement was to engage with and educate potential stem cell donors about the National Stem Cell Registry for the Canadian Blood Services. Our project’s end goal was to try to collect a minimum of 100 new volunteers aged 17-35 for the registry. To achieve this, we were tasked with setting up a booth in a high traffic area for Algonquin’s student population and distributing informative pamphlets and other similar educational materials to passersby. In addition to our assigned tasks, we took the initiative to facilitate informational presentations to classes of nursing students.
