Human-Centred Design Lab

The Human Centered Design Lab was founded in 2020 as an evolution of the Design Centre, which had been established in 2009 through government funding from NSERC and OCE.

HCDL is focused on developing evidence-based design strategies that address complex human-centered problems. We have a symbiotic relationship with Interdisciplinary Studies in Human-Centered Design. The postgraduate certificate provides the institute a foundation in UX research and design.

Our primary goal is to expand Algonquin College’s applied research capacity for the benefit of students, faculty, staff, and external partners. We also want to help our partners implement, improve, and commercialize their products, services, and systems by examining and implementing emerging technologies.
