What to Expect

Algonquin College is proud to provide a diverse and dynamic student experience. Check out the highlights below to get a sense of what to expect as a student in the International Business Management program.

Work-Integrated Learning

A strong practical component helps you build your business management skills, through real world examples and analyses of case studies. Students learn the components of international trade from developing international business plans, conducting feasibility studies, to mastering the intricacies of transaction operations such as preparing export and import documents.

Students apply the skills they’ve learned in the classroom to client-facing industry projects, case studies, and simulations, during an in-class project in the “Applied International Trade: Strategies and Tactics” Capstone Course, and gain experience by:

  • Applying methodologies for managing initial foreign communications
  • Building relationships
  • Entering negotiations
  • Analyzing commercial documents
  • Complying with regulations

Students are equipped with tools to navigate the ever-changing landscape of international trade transactions, focusing on the practical aspects of trade policy, market analysis, and strategic decision-making.
