Kwey – National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 2025

September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada. September 30 is not just a day on the calendar, it’s a call toAnita Tenasco in Ishkodewan remember, to honour and to act. 

It’s a day to recognize children who never came home from residential schools. We stand with the survivors who carry those lived experiences. Truth must be acknowledged and reconciliation must be ongoing. Commemorating this day allows our communities, students and educators to pause and reflect together and commit to building a more just and compassionate future.  Continue reading

Kwey – School of Wellness, Public Safety and Community Studies

As part of Algonquin College’s commitment to expanding the traditional Anishinàbe (ah-nish-in-AHH-bay) Algonquin Nation language onAnita Tenasco Kwey Language Series campus, we are sharing vocabulary, phrases and information to familiarize learners and employees with the traditional language. 

The School of Wellness, Public Safety and Community Studies is the place to find programs designed for those learners (kekināmāwindjig) who want to make a meaningful impact through patient care, client service, community protection (takoniwewininì) or promoting health (mino pimàdiz-i) and wellness.  Continue reading

Algonquin College Wins Energy Management Excellence Award

Algonquin College has been recognized as the Education winner at the Save on Energy 2025 Energy Management Excellence Awards. The College’s Facilities Management team was presented the award at a ceremony September 17.

This award highlights the College’s leadership in energy efficiency and sustainability. In 2024, we reduced overall electricity consumption, achieved 112 kW of demand savings, and saved 42,200 GJ of natural gas.

Following the completion of the College’s Master Campus Development Plan, Facilities Management will be updating the supporting Energy and Emissions, Water and Transportation strategies over the coming years. The Algonquin College 2024 Energy Conservation and Demand Management Plan identifies the extensive sustainability and energy savings initiatives undertaken by the College. Continue reading
