Posted on Thursday, February 12th, 2026
February 14 is Cardiology Technologist Day and February is Heart Month.
This month, we are celebrating the Heart Heroes of Algonquin College and sharing stories of our Cardiovascular Technology students and why they chose to work in heart care.
Meet Emma, a current student at Algonquin College. This is her story:
“I chose to explore a career in heart care because I have always wanted a career where I can make a difference in people’s lives. I knew I wanted a career in health care for a long time, and I always had an interest in the cardiovascular system growing up.
After volunteering in a nursing home for a few years and seeing such amazing people struggle with heart disease and seeing how it affects their families, it leaned me towards the heart care field. Then after having it affect some of the people closest to me in my life, it solidified me looking into career options in cardiac care.
I hope that in my future career in heart care that I can help make a difference and improve the quality of people’s lives. I know the impact that having a passionate care team can have and I am excited to soon be a part of that.”
