World Health Day: Meet Kimberly Gray, an AC Paramedic Student
Posted on Tuesday, April 7th, 2026
April 7 is World Health Day!
At Algonquin College, we believe health and well-being are a part of the foundation for learning, growth, and creating strong communities. Today, we recognize the importance of accessible, inclusive, and sustainable health care for all.
At Algonquin College, we are proud to usher in the next generation of health care professionals through programs such as Nursing, Personal Support Worker, Paramedic, and more.
This World Health Day, we are highlighting Algonquin College Paramedic student, Kimberly Gray.
“I chose to explore a career in health care and become a paramedic because kindness has always shaped how I show up for others, and I have a strong desire to prove myself through work that leaves an impact. I’ve always wanted to be someone people can rely on during vulnerable moments, and helping others has consistently given me a sense of purpose or meaning.
What draws me to paramedicine is how paramedics fill the gaps in health care, stepping in when systems are overwhelmed or when immediate care is needed most. They offer not only medical treatment, but reassurance and stability in the unknown or as we say, ‘The grey area’. I look forward to being part of that role and becoming someone who can bridge those gaps with both compassion and confidence.
My experience at Algonquin College has shown me that I am more capable than I believed. While the program is competitive and demands a high level of commitment, the sense of community within makes all of the effort worth it. I feel supported, encouraged, and cared for by those in this program, professors and students alike. They push me to persevere rather than give up on my dream.”
