Red Dress Day 2026

May 5 is Red Dress Day, a national day to honour and remember Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ people.

The Canadian Institute of Health Research reports that more than six in ten Indigenous women have experienced physical or sexual assault. This violence affects every part of life, including access to health care and representation in health research.

On Red Dress Day, and throughout the year, we honour the lives and legacies of MMIWG2S by listening to their stories and recognizing their strength. We stand with families and communities who continue to seek justice, healing, and lasting change.
