Ottawa Community Housing, La Cité come to ACCE to celebrate trades program grads

On Friday, Aug. 21, members from Ottawa Community Housing and La Cité visited Algonquin College to celebrate graduates of the OCH’s Build Your Path (BYP) trades program, which provides construction training for OCH residents.

More than two dozen people attended a presentation and award ceremony at the Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence (ACCE) which saw the graduates of the BYP receive certificates, cheers and good wishes for their efforts.

“Algonquin College is very proud to be a delivery partner in the Build Your Path program,” said ACCE Dean Katherine Root. “This hands-on pre-employment training program directly supports residents of Ottawa Community Housing in building the skills, confidence and experience needed to get started in the construction industry. From the College’s perspective, what makes this program particularly impactful is the emphasis on applied learning. Participants are not just learning theory, they are gaining practical, real-world experience and industry-standard certifications.”
