Algonquin College Ranked One of the Best Animation Schools in the World!

Algonquin College’s Animation program

Algonquin College’s Animation program has been ranked as one of the best in Canada and in the world in the Animation Career Review’s seventh annual International Animation School Rankings.

Out of 167 world-wide schools with animation programs, Algonquin College was ranked as the 10th best animation training program in the world and the sixth best in Canada by the Animation Career Review.

The rankings were divided into two categories: Animation Colleges in the world, categorized by their four year degree program, and Animation Professional Training Programs in the world, categorized by professional career training in the form of a diploma, certificate, or other program completed in less than four years.

Neil Hunter, coordinator and professor of the Animation program at Algonquin College said “It’s nice to be recognized and to see ourselves on the list. We’re really good at what we do and we’re a really good program.” The recognition on an international level is positive in terms of prospective students, and reinforces the notion that job prospects are possible in the animation field.

Algonquin’s Animation program has plenty to be proud of since launching in 1989, as it has developed into one of the most acclaimed animation industry schools. Notable alumni include Nick Bradshaw, cover artist for Marvel, and Trent Correy, who is the animation supervisor for Frozen 2, and has worked on Moana, Big Hero 6, and Zootopia, among others. Most recently, a graduate from prestigious program was acknowledged as part of the Oscar-winning animation team from Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse. Check out this Algonquin Times article.
