AC student’s team wins Ontario Scotties, off to nationals in February

Brit O'Neill (1) In a battle of two Ottawa Curling Club teams, Jenn Hanna and her team of Brit O’Neill, Stephanie Hanna and Karen Sagle scored two three-enders in a 10-8 victory over Team Homan who were returning to the Ontario Championships after beating Team Canada at the 2015 Scotties.

“We are just elated with the win and are beyond pumped to represent the province,” said Brit, a third year Algonquin College student in the Dental Hygiene program.

To make it to nationals, the team had to face four past champions plus Rachel Homan’s rink – the best women’s curling team in the world right now! “Being the underdog going into the final, we kept our composure and pulled out an amazing game!” Best of luck to Brit, Jenn, Stephanie, and Karen in Grande Prairie, Alberta – the Scotties Tournament of Hearts gets underway February 20 – 28.
