The Canadian Culinary Championship (CCC) is an annual national event that took place from Jan. 31 to Feb. 1 at the Rogers Centre in Ottawa. The winning chefs from 10 different regional qualifiers are gathered to compete in three challenging and entertaining competitions: Mystery Wine, Black Box and the Grand Finale. To be crowned the top chef in Canada at the CCC is a career changer. The competition has yielded three previous winners from Ottawa.
Congratulations to Thanh Ngo, a 2024 graduate from our Animation program who recently won the Student International Character-Based 2D award at the 2024 Los Angeles Animation Festival.

The Los Angeles Animation Festival is “the country’s leading international animation festival since 2007” and is “dedicated to helping indie and student filmmakers.”
An Algonquin College learner has won an international competition hosted by World Design Organization (WDO), earning admission to the 34th World Design Congress in London, UK. Laura Avila, a Level 02 student in the Interdisciplinary Studies in Human-Centred Design program, partnered with three other students in North Macedonia, the United States and India to compete in the WDO design sprint under the theme Heritage in Motion: Defining the Future by Design.
