Meet Rayene Djeghri, a current student in Algonquin College’s Cardiovascular Technology program.

“My passion for healthcare has always run in my veins. I was raised in a large medical family, where caring for others was not just a profession, but a way of life. From a very young age, however, one organ stood out to me more than any other: the heart. The heart has always fascinated me as the true organ of life; one single beat has the power to sustain every other system in the body. Broadcasting – Television and Streaming Video professor Matthew McCooeye is an example to learners that you can make your dreams a reality. McCooeye was asked to join the CBC team to produce Olympic curling events for the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympic Games. He previously worked on the rowing and canoe sprint events in Paris 2024 and men’s and women’s Olympic hockey in Sochi 2014, PyeongChang in 2018, and Beijing in 2022.

Canadian sports broadcasting plays an important role in the media to share event highlights and athletes’ stories with the public.
