The Marketplace Food Court, 35th Street Market Café and The Fix Eatery will be open at the Ottawa Campus for the Winter 2022 Term. Hours of operation are available on the Food Services website.

Winter Term Booklists for registered students at the Ottawa, Perth and Pembroke campuses are now available online. AC Network credentials are required to access Booklists. AC Online students can find their textbooks by using the Textbook Search by Course.

Algonquin Students Work on App that Connects Black Canadians with Hairstylists

Algonquin College grad Ronald Ekambi and his partner Genna Peters have created an online app that helps connect Black Canadians with qualified hair stylists.

Ekambi said Peters came up with the idea to develop an Uber-style app after becoming frustrated with how difficult it was to find a qualified stylist.

“She’s always had problems finding a hairstylist for her,” explains Exambi. It takes a long time to find one, and if they move or are busy, you are stranded again,” he says.

Algonquin Team Develops Dating App for Celebrated Sex Therapist Sue McGarvie

“Ottawa is sexy, but much more private” explains Sue McGarvie, a well-known clinical sex and relationship therapist based in Ottawa known for her popular radio talk show, Sunday Night Sex with Sue.

There are people here who want to have fun, she explains, but they work for the Prime Minister, or a government agency, or are in the military, so they’re “much more discreet,” she says.

This is what led McGarvie to create the Ducklings Dating App, which is an extension of her 5000 plus strong ‘Ducklings’ community.
