Algonquin College is sharing Anishinàbe language and culture to help our community deepen understanding and connection.
As part of Algonquin College’s commitment to expanding the traditional Anishinàbe (ah-nish-in-AHH-bay) Algonquin Nation language on campus, we are sharing vocabulary, phrases and information to familiarize learners and employees with the traditional language.
Faculty of Arts, Media and Design programs mix creativity, storytelling (àdisòke) and technology in a hands-on learning space. Learners (kekināmāwindjig) work with clients and industry professionals while developing skills as a designer, communicator (ànimitàgoziwin), or content creator.
Other useful terms:
- àdisòke = storytelling
- Kikinàmàganag = students
- ànimitàgoziwin = oration, communicator
- ganòjiwe = to speak
