Why did you choose Algonquin College?
Honestly, I chose Algonquin College because it just felt like the right choice. The staff and faculty of the Perth Campus were beyond
welcoming and made choosing Algonquin College feel like a no-brainer.
What’s your favorite memory from your time at Algonquin College?
My favourite memory is when me and my classmates had a snowball fight during one of our outdoor log building classes in the winter. It was so cold and everyone was so frozen but that the small moment of laughter and camaraderie really stuck with me and reminded me of the people I was surrounded by.
What does be named valedictorian mean to you?
I always tried to reciprocate what I saw to be the best of what I saw in those around me. So being selected as valedictorian to me really just emphasizes how amazing the community I was a part of was, how it built me up and how I’m never standing alone.
What advice do you have for future students?
Don’t ever value your self-worth to the productivity of your work. Quality speaks louder than anything, and you can only produce quality work when you spend the time to understand it and have passion be the thing driving it.
What did you enjoy about your program?
My group within my shop classes. There are so many things I learned from asking questions to my classmates and professors during shop time that improved my techniques and made my projects better. These are things that I never learned from my textbooks and only made working on my projects more enjoyable.
Algonquin College’s 2026 Convocation ceremonies will take place from June 23-26, 2026, at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa. Graduates will participate in 12 ceremonies over four days.
