With over 35 years of experience in healthcare, Madore’s career has encompassed various leadership roles, including Clinical Director of the Regional Cancer Program and Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Nursing Executive at The Ottawa Hospital.
Madore opened her remarks to learners and faculty by sharing the importance of nurses’ work past, present and future. “It’s a true honour to be here with you for Nursing Week. It’s not only a time to celebrate the incredible contributions of nurses across the world, but it also represents the bright future that each one of you represents here today”. She continued, “You’re entering the profession at a time of profound transformation in healthcare. The healthcare system is evolving rapidly, with new technologies, new models of care, and new expectations from the communities we serve. At the heart of this transformation, is all of you.”

“Nursing is the perfect combination of the left and right brain, caring, compassion and science at its very roots,” Madore said. She described an array of unique opportunities in the nursing field that highlight the humanity and compassion nurses have, from seeing a newborn take its first breath, to patients receiving life-saving transplants, and to hold a patient’s hand while take their last breath.
Throughout her career, Madore has been recognized for her commitment to excellence, collaboration, and a deep sense of responsibility to the communities she has served. Her leadership is marked by a dedication to patient-centered care and a passion for mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals. Inspired by her grandmother, whom was also a nurse, Madore shared her wealth of knowledge with the learners before her, candidly answering their questions.
At Algonquin College, the School of Health Studies continues to pave the way forward with innovation, knowledge transfer, and hands-on experience in the nursing programs.
