The 2022 Capital Pride Parade is just around the corner!

This Sunday, Algonquin College will join more than 150 marching groups and floats to celebrate and advocate for our communities. In preparation for this weekend’s festivities, Algonquin College’s very own firetruck has been dressed up for Pride.

The firetruck is not only an important part of the training offered to firefighters at the College but crucial to AC’s role in celebrating diversity and inclusion within the broader Ottawa community. Each year, the Algonquin College firetruck receives a new rainbow decal for the day’s festivities — proudly paving the way for the over 50 AC community members who march for pride.

This year, the firetruck will not only be flanked by our proud College community but traditional Indigenous dancers as well. Showcasing the important and historic relationship between Indigenous and 2SLGBTQ+ communities.

Want to take part in the parade but missed the sign-up deadline? Make sure to grab a front row seat to show your support. The parade will kick off at 1 p.m. in Centretown, starting at Kent St. and Somerset St. The parade will travel north on Kent St., east on Laurier St., south on Elgin St., and finally west on Gladstone Ave. Don’t forget to share your pictures of the beautiful rainbow truck on social and tag us.

We can’t wait to celebrate our communities together!
