Skills students have at the start of co-op work term:
- Windows and Linux Operating Systems
- Computer Languages: Java (SE8): including J2EE, Android (including enterprise level), jUnit testing framework, RMI, Design Patterns, IDE’s: Eclipse and NetBeans and C++.
- Web-focused Languages: HTML5, JavaScript, PHP and XML Computer Languages.
- Database SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle administration, MySQL, SQL Server.
- Intro level to data warehousing, BI and analytics.
- Perform routine maintenance on a database.
- Apply knowledge of networking concepts to develop, deploy, and maintain program code.
Suggested job titles:
- Application Tester
- Junior system and network installer and/or administrators
- Technical support specialists
- Customer service support representatives
- Computer trainers
- Hardware and software sales and support
Requirements to remain eligible for co-op:
This program offers two optional co-op work terms. Qualified students with a minimum GPA of 2.7 and must not have failed/missed any courses previous to work term can apply for a paid co-op employment to gain valuable work experience and build their network within the industry. Contact your Program Coordinator for specific qualification requirements.
