Co-op Awards of Excellence

The Algonquin College Cooperative Education Department hosted the inaugural Algonquin College Co-op Awards of Excellence to honour the extraordinary accomplishments and contributions of our co-op employers and students.

Algonquin employees came together to celebrate the important role Algonquin College’s co-op employers play in our co-op students’ education and career success. The Co-op Department was also pleased to celebrate one of their star co-op students for their dedication and commitment to the Algonquin College co-op program.

“We are so pleased to be able to fill our Restaurant International with nearly 100 co-op employers, Algonquin employees and students to celebrate our success in co-op,” says David Hall, Manager of the Cooperative Education Department. “These employers post jobs for or hire from virtually every Algonquin school with co-op programs. They are dedicated supporters, some with over two decades of experience hiring our co-op students”.

Outstanding Contribution to Algonquin College Cooperative Education

Canada Revenue Agency

Canada Revenue Agency has a vision for each Algonquin co-op student that fills a role on their team, and takes a nurturing approach to working with each student on projects and throughout their co-op work-term. The Learning Technologies and Business Intelligence, Research and Analytics Division (BIRAD) section of CRA are valuable partners in this collaboration through their work with Algonquin co-op students, the Co-op Department, and the College.

Department of National Defence

The Department of National Defence hires a large contingent of Algonquin College co-op students each year, mainly from the schools of Advanced Technology and Business at Algonquin College. The technology used in their work environment is closely aligned to what Algonquin offers which makes it’s a great fit for the students and the department.

EllisDon

EllisDon regularly hires Algonquin College co-op students and graduates, seeing the value of bringing an employee in as a student and nurturing them through their school experience. They often bridge Algonquin co-op students into full-time employment.

TITUS

TITUS offers a very supportive learning and working environment, assisting Algonquin co-op students in their on-the-job learning and career development. They are a long-time supporter of the Algonquin College co-op program for the past decade.

Algonquin College Co-op Student Achievement Award

Moohammed Ameen Aldhaheri

Moohammed Ameen Aldhaheri, is a student of the Algonquin College Computer Engineering Technology – Computing Science program and has received this year’s Co-op Student Achievement Award for serving as an excellent Algonquin College ambassador during his co-op work-term with the Department of National Defence. He has made Algonquin College proud by demonstrating the College Values of Caring, Learning, Integrity, and Respect.
