Guiding Applicants on Their Adventure: The Applicant Checklist
Posted on Tuesday, January 27th, 2026
Imagine this: An applicant is setting out on an exciting quest to join Algonquin College. In the future, the Applicant Checklist tool will serve as a map to guide students through the Algonquin College admissions process.
As part of the transition from GeneSIS to Thesis Student Management, the new Student Portal will replace ACSIS. The Applicant Checklist tool in the new Thesis Student Portal will help applicants track their progress. It’s designed to make the admissions process clear and easy to follow. For employees, understanding this tool means you can confidently guide applicants on their journey.
The Adventure Map
Think of the Applicant Checklist as the applicant’s quest map:
- Checkpoints = Admissions Stages like “Application Submitted” or “Documents Accepted.”
- Side Quests = Additional Requirements such as uploading a portfolio or booking an HPAT test.
- Treasure = Enrolled in Program at the end of the admissions journey.
Your role? Helping adventurers read the map and stay on course.
Why This Map Matters
For applicants, the checklist means:
- Clear visibility of what’s done and what’s left.
- Confidence in knowing their next step.
- Fewer surprises and better communication.
When applicants feel informed, interactions will become smoother and more positive.
How It Works
Here’s what you need to know:
- The checklist will appear in the new Student Portal.
- The checklist has sections with key information.
- Applicants can upload required documents and track their progress in one place.
