Parking - Visitor and Guest Pass Usage

Visitor Parking

General
In accordance with Directive C2 - Parking, the College offers Complimentary or "Free" parking to Official Guests and certain identified groups of individuals. Departments can purchase Visitor / Guest day passes for non-official guests for use in the Visitor Parking area, at a reduced rate, from the Parking Office. The cost of the pass is $6.00 plus applicable taxes for Current Fiscal Year and will be paid through an interdepartmental Journal Voucher.

Departments that wish to offer their Visitors / Guests free parking will communicate this request to the Parking Office in a timely manner (24 hours notice), by memo or E-mail to parking@algonquincollege.com indicating the number of passes requested and an applicable budget code to process the Journal Voucher must be provided.

Using the Pass - Procedure
Visitors or Guests will proceed to the visitor parking area, take a ticket from the dispenser and park. They will then attend the function or event and receive the visitor or guest pass from the department responsible for inviting them to the campus. Departments may issue passes for additional days to the guest at that time but they must have the valid date clearly marked on them prior to issuing. When guests exit the Visitor Lot, they must hand the pass to the attendant. Fraudulent or altered passes will be subject to the daily rate of the lot, with no exceptions.

Rules
The passes may be purchased from the Parking Office only. The passes will not be usable in the permit, metered, or reserved parking areas, and are good for one use only, indicated by the date written on the front. Fraudulent or altered passes will be subject to the daily rate of the lot, with no exceptions. Visitors or Guests will be charged for parking upon exit, if they do not possess a valid pass.

Departments will control the issuance and reconciliation of the passes. They will be responsible for their accountability, security, safety, and issue them independently of the Parking Office. Unused, un-altered passes may be returned to the Parking Office at the fiscal year end and a credit will be issued to the department for the original cost less an administrative fee of $0.50 per pass.

The tag must be placed on the drivers side dash with the full tag visible, if applicable. A valid date must be recorded in black marker, large print only.

Important
The pass is not valid if the date is missing, not visible, unreadable or altered in any way, and your guest will be charged the full daily rate applicable. Vehicles displaying this pass may only be parked in authorized, designated areas. (e.g. Visitors Lot)

The parking of a vehicle on campus is a privilege governed by the Algonquin College Parking Regulations. Information concerning any of these regulations may be obtained from the Parking Office, 727-4723 ext. 7187 or by email from parking@algonquincollege.com
