Our Motivational Interviewing trainers are certified professionals from Rideauwood Addiction and Family Services, one of them being a member of the Motivational Interview Network of Trainers (MINT).

Andrew Mendes

Andrew is specialized in Addictions Counselling from The University of Bath. Andrew began his counselling career in 2004 and has worked in the United Kingdom, Portugal and currently in Canada since 2009. He has mostly been focussed on addictions and the multiple issues within that spectrum (e.g. concurrent disorders, family welfare, and poverty) in both inpatient and outpatient programs. In 2007 Andrew worked as the Senior Clinician responsible for developing and implementing new treatment programming at a residential treatment centre in Portugal. Andrew joined Rideauwood’s Adult Addiction Treatment team in 2009 as the Coordinator of Rideauwood’s Ontario Works Addiction Services Program and is currently the Director of Operations. Andrew is a member of the Motivational Interview Network of Trainers (MINT). International Certified Alcohol and Drug Counsellor (ICADC), Canadian Certified Addiction Counsellor (CCAC) and a Registered Psychotherapist. In is private time, Andrew dedicates is times to family activities in the great Canadian outdoors.

Lisa Zimmerman

Lisa Zimmerman joined Rideauwood in 2009, after a ten year stay in New Zealand where she worked as a senior counsellor in a residential treatment centre. Lisa holds a Master’s degree in Health Science and has had extensive training in trauma, addictions and eating disorders. She has published an article on addiction in the New Zealand Association of Psychotherapists Journal and has presented papers on at the Australasian Therapeutic Communities Association Conferences. Lisa is a Certified Canadian Counsellor and Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
