Dr. Golub has over 20 years of academic and industrial experience in photonics. He has over 40 papers in refereed journals, 5 patents, and recently he has invented several novel optical components – Fresnel axicon and solid immersion axicon. He also demonstrated sub-diffraction focusing using phase engineering of diffractive optic elements.

While in industry and academia, Dr. Golub initiated several OCE, IRAP, CONII and other organizations funded collaborative industry-academia projects. Dr. Golub’s teaching and research has and continues to be important in creating highly qualified personnel for future photonics research.

The research team, for which Dr. Golub has been responsible, obtained Algonquin’s very first patent application (for the triple-axicon lens system for increased depth of field) and the technology has been licensed to industrial partner B-Con Eng. Dr. Golub in involved in an active collaboration with B-Con Engineering on the manufacture and characterization of these elements. The projects have extensive involvement of students which gives the college’s students a hands-on experience in cutting edge photonic technology.
