Important Dates
Key Dates in the School Year
October: Applications Open on OntarioColleges.ca
ontariocolleges.ca opens for applications into the next academic year in October. This means that if you would like to start college in September of 2018, you can start your applications in October of 2017. Starting the application process early allows you more time to gather required materials such as transcripts and to complete any other admissions requirements. It also means more time to complete any required assessments.
February 1: Equal Consideration Date
Applicants to the fall term should complete their ontariocolleges.ca applications by February 1 for equal consideration and submit all outstanding documents as soon as possible. After February 1, applications are accepted on a first come first serve basis. For your best chance of getting accepted to a Highly Competitive Program apply before the equal consideration date.
February 1: Offers of Admissions
Acceptance offers to non-highly competitive programs are sent out beginning February 1. Accepted applicants will receive a phone call, email and acceptance package through the mail. Keep your contact details up to date on ACSIS to ensure you receive your offer in a timely manner.
May 1: Confirmation Deadline
Accepted applicants must confirm their offer by May 1 to retain their seat. Applicants who receive an offer after this date must follow the instructions and due dates in their email or acceptance letter. Any delay in confirming your offer can result in losing your seat in the program to which you have been accepted.
June 15: Tuition Deposit Due Date
Non-refundable tuition deposits for the Fall term are due by June 15. If you are an applicant starting in a new program, the balance of your fees will automatically be deferred once you have paid your deposit. Failure to pay your deposit by this date can result in losing your seat in the program to which you have been accepted.
Payment Methods include:
- Domestic Students:
- Online Banking
- Personal Cheque
- Money Order
- Debit in person
- International Students:
- Online Banking
- International wire transfer
- Credit via phone
- Personal Cheque

For Online banking:
- Payee: Algonquin College
- Account Number: your Algonquin Student Number
Please note: Online banking processing may take 3-5 business days, so please arrange this payment early to ensure timely processing. We suggest making all online payments by June 11 to meet the June 15 payment deadline. If you are planning to come to the Registrar’s Office in person, we encourage you to pay early as the service counters experience increasingly higher volume as we approach fees due dates. The non-refundable tuition deposit is used towards your first term tuition.
August: Document Submission Deadline
If you receive a conditional offer, you must still confirm your offer and pay your tuition deposit to hold your seat in the program. However, your application cannot be completed until you have met all program requirements. You should submit any required documents before the specific deadlines in August to secure your seat. If you are in a program listed below, please be sure to review your Clinical/Field Placement Requirements document:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Early Childhood Education
- Personal Support Worker
- Practical Nursing
- Social Service Worker
August 5: Timetables Available
Fall course timetables become available on August 6 and can be viewed on ACSIS. If students wish to add/drop or change course sections, they may request these changes on ACSIS up until September 4.
September 4: Start of Fall Term
Most classes start on this date. Please refer to your timetable for further details.
September 18: Refund Date
This is the last day to withdraw from a program for the fall term and receive a partial refund of your fees. If you withdraw by or before this date, you are eligible to receive a tuition refund, less the non-refundable tuition deposit. If you withdraw after September 18, no refund is available and you are liable for payment of any outstanding fees owing to the College. Requests to withdraw must be made in writing to the Registrar’s Office. Non-attendance does not constitute an official withdrawal.
