FAQ

Before you begin, note the name and model of the printer you would like to use. A printer will be labeled with its name such as WO-KM-E114i-1 on a green label and/or on the printer queue on woprint2.

  1. Click the Apple menu.
  2. Click System Preferences, then Print & Fax, then +.
  3. Open the Add Printer window.
  4. Click Advanced. Your computer should search for a few seconds. 
    • If you cannot see Advanced on the toolbar:
    • Hold Command and click a blank part of the toolbar.
    • When the menu appears, click Customize Toolbar.
    • Drag the Advanced button from the new window
      to a blank part of the toolbar.
    • Click Done.
  5. When the search has completed, enter the following information:
    • Type – select Windows
    • Device – select Another Device
    • URL – type smb://woprint2/ followed by the printer name
      (For example, smb://woprint2/wo-km-e114i-1)
    • In some instances, the domain must be included in the printer URL to work correctly.
      (For example, smb://woprint2.ottawa.ad.algonquincollege.com/wo-km-e114-1)
    • Name – type the printer name as it is labeled on the printer
    • Location – type the room where the printer is, should be the same as above.
    • Print Using – Choose Select Printer Software and in the printer software dialog enter the model of the printer, for example C554. (You may be required to download the correct drivers from Konica Minolta’s website.)
  6. Click OK to return to the Add Printer window.
  7. Click Add.
  8. Click Continue to accept the default installation options.

Note: Sometimes the smb:// URL will not work. In this case, you should use the following format: smb://WOODROFFE;user0001@wopq/ where user0001 is your Algonquin College network username.

Your new printer should now be added to your list of available printers. It will be available from the print dialog in all applications.

Note: The first time you print, you will be asked to authenticate on the Algonquin network. Use the following settings:

  • Connect as – Registered User
  • Name – Type your Algonquin network user name, beginning with WOODROFFE\
  • Password – Type your Algonquin network password

Mobility-Print is a method of printing to College FindMe printers from a mobile device such as a phone, tablet or laptop computer. With Mobility-Print you can print your document directly from your iOS, Android, Windows or Macintosh device then tap your AC card on a FindMe Printer to start printing. Your Mobility Print login is the same as your Algonquin College network username and password that you use for all other services and can be found in ACSIS.

A Key Operator is a College employee in an office who is assigned to care for the printer(s) in the office area. Calling for service, replenishing toner and paper, and clearing paper jams are delegated to Key Operators. Check with your manager if you are unsure about who the Key Operator is in your area or office. Print Services can assist you or your office with Key Operator functions and training. All of the printers are labelled with the printer name and the paper size it supports. You can choose your paper size when you print however, there are a few things you should know first!

  • Letter size (8.5X11) is available in every printer on campus
  • A4 size documents will automatically print on letter size paper
  • Legal size (8.5X14) and Tabloid size (11X17) paper are not available at most printers. Check the paper tray label on the printer to see if it has these paper sizes before you tap your card.

Print balances are non-refundable however, reimbursements to your print balance or AC Cash are available for exceptions such as printer malfunctions. Should you have an encountered an error while printing at a campus printer (for example, print job didn’t print, or printer had run out of paper or toner), please complete this form

Yes. If you are using Find Me Print, you will need to tap your AC Card to release your print job.

The process for getting a card depends on which campus you are attending:

Ottawa students: Upload your photo online and you will receive an email when your AC Card is ready for pickup! Find out more information about getting your AC Card here. 

Pembroke students: You can either get your student card in person at Campus Central Shipping Room 111 or submit your photo online and your card will be ready for pickup in 24 hours. Find out more information about getting your AC Card here. 

Perth students: Submit your photo online and we will mail your AC Card to the Perth campus. Find out more information about getting your AC Card here.

PaperCut is a print management application in use at Algonquin College that makes it easy for students to keep track of their print balances, print only what is needed and print to devices located throughout campus. Clicking on the “Check My Print Balance” link will be log you into your PaperCut account, and any AC Cash you add to your AC Card is recognized in your PaperCut account and available to use for printing.
