Computers/Laptops

Computers are deployed for each full-time professor and instructor and for each full-time employee whose job requires access to a computing device. For more information, see the college policy on the IT06 Deployment of Computing Devices.

Evergreening

Corporate policies IT02 and IT06 describe the types of devices that are allocated to Employees, how often they are replaced and who is responsible for backing up and restoring data on the computing device assigned to the employee.

Reporting Problems

When a desktop computer in a lab or office is not functioning properly you should report it to ITS for servicing and place a note on the computer indicating that it is out of service.

When a college asset laptop is not functioning properly, report it to ITS and bring it to the ITS Service desk for servicing.

Backups and Restores

You are responsible for doing you own backups on your computer. whether it is a College computer or personally owned. Whether a laptop, PDA or Desktop. If you don’t do it and your computer is damaged or lost then you have lost everything that was on it. Are you ready for that?

Windows has a built-in backup program which may not have all of the features but is free and usable.
