Algonquin College policies for tests and exams apply to CAL Test Services.

Test/Exam Booking

  • Students must follow the booking deadlines posted on the Test Services website and the CAL Student Portal.
  • Test/exams should be booked at the same time as the class is writing. If schedule conflicts arise, it is the student’s responsibility to resolve these issues with the Professor before the booking is made and in accordance with test booking deadlines.
  • Accommodations must be selected at the time of booking. Additional accommodations cannot be added after the booking is made.
  • Student who need to write at a different date or time must get approval from their professor prior to booking. Faculty must send an email approving a different date/time to caltestservices@algonquincollege.com.
  • To view your test status (tentative or booked) and test location, log in to the CAL Student Portal with your Algonquin College username and password, click “Book a Test” then click the “My Upcoming Events” tab.

Writing in CAL Test Services

  • Students who write their tests/exams with CAL Test Services are under proctor, video, and network surveillance.
  • Students who are unable to write their test or exam when scheduled should cancel the booking on the CAL Student Portal. Sign in, then click “Book a Test”. Click the “My Upcoming Events” tab, then click the “Cancel” button.
  • Students who arrive more than 30 minutes late to their scheduled test/exam will not be permitted to write.
  • Students who arrive after their scheduled start time, but before the 30 minute late cut off will not receive their missed time back.
  • Students must remain in CAL Test Services for a minimum of 30 minutes after the test/exam start time.
  • Students will be asked for proof of identity before writing their tests. Please bring one piece of photo ID (Algonquin College student ID or government-issued photo ID).
  • CAL Test Services is a distraction-reduced test writing environment. Please respect all students and enter the testing space quietly.
  • Personal electronic devices are not permitted in the test room, unless a personal laptop has been approved by the faculty. Smartwatches and wireless headphones are not permitted. Personal belongings will be stored in the front area of the test room.
  • Student’s must come with their Brightspace login credentials.
  • No food or drinks (except water) are allowed in the test/exam rooms. Please respect our students with allergies.
  • Ear plugs and noise-cancelling headsets are available to all students writing in CAL Test Services.
  • White boards are available to students for jot notes during a test/exam. Scrap paper can be requested and must be submitted at the end of the test/exam.
  • If you have questions for your professor during your test/exam, please let your proctor know and they will attempt to contact them. We cannot guarantee that the professor will be available.
  • It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that all test/exam material is printed and submitted and returned to the proctor before departing the test room. This includes test papers, crib sheets, memory aids, and any scrap paper used during the test.
  • Please speak to the proctor if you have any questions or concerns regarding your exam or the environment.

Missed Tests/Exams

  • Students who are sick, missed a scheduled test, or arrived too late to be permitted to write, should contact their professor to request to reschedule.
  • Please note that test/exam booking deadlines apply to rescheduled tests.
