Step-by-Step Overview

Below is the step-by-step overview of the test-booking process for supervised tests only.

Step Who Action Required Notes
1 Student Share your letter of accommodation with your professor through the CAL Student Portal before booking a test. Find your
letter of accommodation on the CAL Student Portal.
2 Student If you will use assistive technology to write a test, make an appointment with Assistive Technology Services to get trained on it before you book the test. Click here for more information.
3 Student Book all tests except final examsthrough the CAL Student Portal at least 7 days before the test. Final exams must be booked by the deadlines posted each term. Click here for more information.
4 CAL Test Services Once the student has put in a request to book a test, we’ll send an email to the faculty member asking them to approve it.
5 Faculty Follow the link in the email to review your student’s booking request. Approve or modify it. Click here for more information.
6 Student View the status of your test-booking request on the CAL Student Portal in the My Upcoming Events tab. Once it’s approved, you’ll see details of your test, including where and when your test will take place. Click here for more information.
7 Faculty Once you’ve approved a student’s request to book a test with accommodations, make adjustments to the test as outlined in the letter of accommodation.

  • For tests on Brightspace, helpful resources are available to help guide you through this. Click here.
  • For tests on paper, CAL Test Services can help. You’ll also receive an email with the accommodations so you know what adjustments need to be made. Drop the paper tests off at CAL Test Services in Room E304e (3rd Floor, Student Commons) or email them to caltestservices@algonquincollege.com.
8 Student If you’re ill on test day, please do not come to campus. If you cannot write a test for any reason, it is very important to cancel as a lot of work is put into preparing and delivering tests. Go to the CAL Student Portal and use the cancellation button to cancel the test. Contact your professor to reschedule. Click here for more information.
9 Faculty To cancel the test for any reason, email caltestservices@algonquincollege.com. See the For Faculty page for detailed guide
10 Student Write the test in-person. For information on taking a virtual test, click here.
11 CAL Test Services We’ll notify faculty if the student did not take the test.

For paper tests, the hard copy will be available for pickup in E304e.
