Fresh produce and plants available (Ottawa Campus)

The Horticulture Department invites you to stop by to peruse and pick up fresh produce and plants at the Ottawa Campus, Building M.A photo of various vegetables grown by the Horticulture Department.

Shop Tuesdays and Fridays from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. for perennials and houseplants grown by students.

Available produce changes weekly but vegetables available this week include; salad greens (lettuce, spinach, mustard etc. ). Also available are peppers, zucchini, rhubarb, beets, radishes and more.

New Bike shelter – Ottawa Campus

As a follow-up to the recent news post regarding employee cycling to the Algonquin College Ottawa campus (Algonquin College employees embrace cycling all year long | myAC (force.com), Facilities Management is pleased to inform the College community that as part of the recently completed North Service Road Rehabilitation project, a covered bike shelter was recently installed along the multi-use pathway south of the Jack Doyle Athletics and Recreation Center and ready for use.

This shelter is strategically located directly adjacent to the newly constructed multi-use pathway which runs east towards Building V and north connecting to Navaho Dr., providing a safe path of travel for both bicycles and pedestrians throughout the year.

Our culinary and baking students feature Ontario farm fresh eggs in many of their recipes

Did you know that eggs are one of the most nutritious foods available to us?

You might be surprised to learn about the wide range of nutrients, minerals, good fats and protein that is packed into one egg.

In fact, one large egg contains small amounts of almost every vitamin and mineral the human body requires, including vitamin B, E, calcium, iron, potassium, zinc, manganese, folate and more. All of these nutrients are found mostly in the egg yolk, while the egg whites contain only protein. An egg provides 6 to 8 grams of quality protein and is only 70 calories.
