HCRA: Customer Service and Tarion Requirements

HCRA Approved Course for Home Builders and Vendors

Both the HCRA and Tarion incorporates Customer Service in this education module for a good reason. The foundation for success for any builder depends on customer satisfaction. The subject touches virtually any contact you have with customers, and anything you produce for them. Since most builders look to referrals as a critical source of new business, Customer Satisfaction is effectively your primary marketing tool. To do that job for you, it needs to be embedded in all that you and your employees do. We will explore how you as an owner can make that happen without having it draw you in as the one who has to do all the work.

What you’ll learn:

  • What the new home warranty requires and Tarion’s process for administering and enforcing this.
  • How the builder engages with Tarion at the individual project level.
  • What you as a builder need to do to comply with your legal obligation under Ontario’s legislation for new home builders to provide warranty coverage.

Course topics include:

  • Regulation, customer service & the needs of the new home market
  • Customer satisfaction and your business success
  • The Home Construction Regulatory Authority (HCRA) and your builder license
  • Tarion Protocols and Standards for Performance

Exam:

If you are applying for your HCRA License, successfully completing the exam is required for your application. This closed-book exam is a multiple-choice, true/false and multiple-answer format. The exam is available 24/7, an appointment is not needed, and you will have access to complete your exam for 60 days. You will have three (3) attempts to pass the exam. The pass mark is 70%.

If you wish to only take the HCRA Exam, the cost is $125 and you can register here.
