Embedded Learner Supports
Supporting learners through their course and program of study contributes to greater academic performance and success, increased student retention, and improved mental health. While including resources for learner support may not be explicitly related to new course development, reflecting on how to support learners when the course is being delivered are important considerations.
Questions to Guide Development:
- Is there content on Brightspace orienting the student to the course space and offering guidance on how to succeed in the course?
- Are there built-in methods for learners to provide feedback or seek answers on the course (e.g., Brightspace Survey or Discussion board)?
- Are there links or documents for relevant Algonquin College and department-specific policies? How is academic integrity explained?
- Are there links to Centre for Accessible Learning, the Algonquin College Library, or Student Support Services?
