Course and Program Delivery Modalities
At Algonquin College, there are five main course instruction modes:1
In Person
On-campus scheduled class.
On-campus scheduled class.

Synchronous Online
Scheduled virtual class time via video meeting tool.
Scheduled virtual class time via video meeting tool.

Asynchronous Online
No scheduled class time. Self-directed online course time.

Flex
Scheduled class time. Students choose to attend in person or via video meeting tool.
Scheduled class time. Students choose to attend in person or via video meeting tool.

Hyflex
Three participation options: in person, via video meeting tool, or asynchronously.

Hybrid Information
All instruction modes (except Asynchronous Online) may include a hybrid option, in which a portion of the course is delivered asynchronously online.
For courses including a hybrid component, you will need to clearly explain to your learners through Brightspace and in the Weekly Schedule that there is a hybrid component to the course, and clearly communicate your expectations regarding their participation in this aspect of the course.
The term hybrid will be suppressed on the learner’s timetable in order to simplify the number of options presented.
For example: In Person Hybrid will appear simply as In Person.
