Resident Advisors (RA)

The role of the RA is filled by returning students who live in residence and plan educational and social activities for the residence community. They provide valuable support and guidance to residents, while at the same time acting as a liaison with the Residence Management team. RAs complete nightly rounds of the building. They have the tools and knowledge to get you the answers, direction and/or assistance you need, or can simply be someone to talk to.

RAs can be found in the Residence Life Department in the Back Lobby during the evenings, or you can connect with them at your floor meetings.

 

Residence Services Representatives (RSR)

The role of Residence Services Representatives is to aid students in their day-to-day life in residence. If students need help with something around the building, or just want to chat with someone, RSRs can be found at the front desk 24 hours a day. In conjunction with the RAs, RSRs complete nightly rounds of the building to help ensure the safety and security of the building and its residents.

Placement Students

The placement students who work in Residence are Algonquin College students who are in the Child and Youth Care program or the Social Service Worker program.

The role of the placement students is to assist the Residence Life Team in providing student support services. They facilitate events, co-facilitate peer support groups, and provide harm reduction and sexual violence prevention information.

Community Advisor (CA)

The Community Advisor (CA) is a full-time professional staff member who plans educational and social programming in residence and oversees Resident Advisors
who run the programming throughout the Residence.

Residence Life Coordinator (RLC)

The Residence Life Coordinators are responsible for all matters related to student life, including overseeing the residence life program and providing support services to students.

The RLCs also supervise the Resident Advisors and volunteers working in the residence.

Residence Community Standards Coordinator (RCSC)

The Residence Community Standards Coordinator (RCSC) is responsible for overseeing the administration of high-level conduct including evictions and behavioural contracts, development of policy related to conduct and mental health, act as a liaison with security services and campus supports, and provide case management for residents with complex mental health.

Residence Life Manager (RLM)

Many of the day-to-day activities associated with ‘Residence Life’ are overseen by the RLM, including overseeing the judicial process associated with the Residence Community Living Standards.

Residence Services Lead (RSL) – Residence Life

The Residence Services Lead (RSL) develops and maintains operational plans for the Residence Life program, creates monthly calendars for Residence Life events, oversees social media accounts and resident communications, and provides logistical support for programming in Residence.

Operations Manager (OM)

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the Front Desk staff and ensuring that the Residence operations run smoothly. The OM is available to assist with questions or concerns about rooms and fees, should you have any.

Housing Coordinator (HC)

The Housing Coordinator (HC) oversees every resident who moves in and out of the building, and is able to assist if you have any questions or concerns about your application, both prior to moving in, and once you move in. The HC is responsible for allocating every resident a room when they apply to live in Residence.

Residence Groups Counsellor

The Residence Groups Counsellor regularly hosts sessions that cover a wide range of topics right here in Residence.

These groups are perfect for those who would like some support in a more informal group session, or those who would prefer to attend a session with a friend. These sessions are co-hosted by the Placement Students who can provide peer to peer support, and every session is free to attend.

Residence Counsellor

The Residence Counsellor is available on a weekly basis for counselling appointments right here in Residence.

The Residence Counsellor offers Counselling Services to residents that are caring, confidential and professional, at no extra cost to residents. Counselling can help with many different things that residents may be experiencing, including mental health and harm reduction.
