Pay Your Tuition Fees
You are required to pay the tuition fees by the deadline indicated on your letter of acceptance to secure your seat in the program. Failure to pay your fees on time can result in losing your seat.
International students can pay by one of the following two payment options:
- Use Flywire for payments outside Canada;
- Pay by credit card in ACSIS for payments from within Canada.
If you cannot pay by the deadline, contact the Admissions team immediately by posting a comment on MyAC (the International Application Portal). You may receive an extension or you may be placed on a waiting list and notified if a seat becomes available again.

Apply for a Study Permit
Apply for your Study Permit online or with the Visa Office/Visa Application Center (VAC) for your country of residence. For instructions, follow these steps on how to apply for a study permit. Processing times for Study Permits can vary – get an estimate of how long it will take based on your situation.
Applying for a Study Permit takes time (sometimes months) so make sure you apply as soon as possible. You should also review the terms and conditions of the Study Permit so you know what you can do.

Co-op Work Permit
Most programs have a mandatory work requirement (paid, unpaid, or co-op). If your program has a work requirement it will be indicated on your letter of acceptance and you will need to apply for a Co-op Work Permit in addition to your Study Permit. Your letter of acceptance can be used to support both applications.
There are different kinds of Work Integrated Learning opportunities (paid, unpaid, volunteer, on-campus, off-campus, full-time, and part-time) that could be part of your academic program, here are a few examples:
- Practicums
- Industry Projects
- Applied Research
- Work Placements
- Internships
- Field Placement
- Work experience hours
If you have a mandatory work requirement, this doesn’t necessarily mean your program is a co-op program. Remember to check your letter of acceptance. If your letter states you have a mandatory work requirement, please apply for a Co-op Work Permit.
Off-Campus and On-Campus Work
Your Study Permit may authorize you to work on or off-campus.
Note: The conditions listed in your Study Permit about being authorized to work on or off campus does not authorize work that is part of your program. You need to apply for the Co-op Work Permit (see above).
Get Credit for Past Work or Education
Algonquin College recognizes previous academic and employment experience.
TRANSFER OF ACADEMIC CREDIT (EXEMPTIONS)
Admitted students may be eligible for Transfer of Academic Credit based on courses completed at another post-secondary institution or at Algonquin College. The completed course must be substantially equivalent to the course in your current program. Apply for Transfer of Academic Credit on ACSIS. Learn more about Transfer of Academic Credit.
Health Insurance
Medical Health Insurance is provided to international students who are registered in full-time post-secondary programs. The cost for health insurance is already included in your tuition fees
See more about the health insurance provider, Guard.me at this website: www.guard.me/algonquin.
As a registered student, you will receive an email from Guard.me to your Algonquin live email during the first week of classes. The email will provide all details including the health insurance policy number and more. Health Insurance is mandatory and non-refundable.
