Home Based Music Production
This course is part of the following part-time on campus and/or online program(s):
Setting up a professional home-based music production studio has never been easier. Students are guided through the steps of selecting and preparing a room and equipping it with the right equipment to create professional sounding music. Tips and tricks on how to plan and execute a recording session are also provided. Using several professional software programs, students learn how to arrange and mix beats and loops to create exciting musical tracks for singers and videos.
Students are required to bring their own laptop (Windows 7 or 8) with Cubase Artist 8 software (academic version approx. $200) and Sony Movie Studio Suite 13 (academic version) loaded, plus headphones, and a USB memory stick (minimum 4GB).
Cubase Artist 8 software (academic version) is available at Steve's Music in Ottawa (approx. $200) but we recommend contacting the store first to ensure it is in stock. The Sony Movie Studio Suite 13 software (academic version) is available online from Studica (approx. $100).
