Introduction to AutoCAD

Course: CAD5515

Develop a basic understanding of AutoCAD and learn how to use it for 2D drafting. Topics include entering and using the drawing editor; setting up the drawing environment; constructing entities; editing a drawing; display control and zooming; drawing storage and retrieval; layer and line-type options; detailing; ISO metric drafting; blocks creation and exporting blocks; design centre; AutoCAD setup and configuration; xrefs; attributes and data extraction; and plotting of drawings and paper space. NOTE: Architectural, mechanical or interior decorating drafting experience or related knowledge is required.


As part of the tuition fee, students are given access to the AutoDesk website where they can download a 3-year student version of the required AutoCAD software and access current tutorials.
