This course familiarizes students with the digital world by exploring the hardware and software of their computer system. Students learn to use the most common functions of the Windows operating system including File Explorer for file management, utility programs, and various web browsers for social media, while observing and identifying security and privacy concerns and issues. Students learn to build properly formatted documents using Microsoft Word and spreadsheets including correctly functioning formulas using Microsoft Excel, and create commanding presentations with Microsoft PowerPoint while using the cloud to store and access their files.

Notes

Sections 841, 842, 843, and 844 require you to register in the month prior to the course start date.

Required Software

MS Word & MS Excel 2010, 2013 or 2016 required. Windows 7, 8 or 10 required. Software not included with course materials. This course does not support MACs.

Fall 2017: MS Word 2013 or 2016 and MS Excel 2013 or 2016 (not included with course materials) Operating System:  Microsoft Windows Operating System Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10 required. Internet Connection. MAC users NOT supported.
