Academic Clearance Requirements for ECE Placements

Students are required to follow the program of study as outlined on the ECE Program Information page. Students are not permitted to take placements out of order or to continue in their program progression without completing all levels consecutively.

Program Progression

Four Levels of placement, Level 1: Theory Courses. Level 2: Placement 1, Theory Courses. Level 3: Placement 2, Theory Courses. Level 4: Placement 3, Theory Courses

Academic Clearance Confirmation

Academic clearance will be confirmed by the Student Advisor after the placement deadline has passed. All courses in the level prior to your placement must be completed successfully prior to your first day onsite. If any course(s) in the level(s) prior to your placement are not completed before the placement period begins, you will be required to postpone your placement.

If you are currently enrolled in a prerequisite course, your progress will be monitored. Students identified as at risk of failure in any prerequisite courses should be aware that their program progression and placement eligibility will be impacted if they are unsuccessful.

Full-time Students

Academic clearance and registration are completed automatically for full-time students. If you are not eligible, you will be contacted by the Student Advisor to determine your next steps.

Part-time Students

Part-time student clearance will be reviewed after the placement deadline has passed, and students will receive next steps to register for placement and seminar courses once eligibility is confirmed (this includes documentation submission as well as both academic and ParaMed clearance). Part-time students must be approved to register by the Field Placement Officer in order to register for placement and seminar courses. Only students who have submitted the online ECE Placement Request Form and met the academic and ParaMed clearance requirements will receive the next steps to register.
