Meet the Faculty

Darin Faber, Program Coordinator, Professor

Darin Faber has been teaching for over 25 years, including 18 years at Algonquin College, and is a graduate of the Interactive Media Management post-graduate studies program. Additionally, he has a background in Psychology and holds a Master of Arts in Learning and Technology. He has a passion for teaching and sharing ideas with students. His 35 year career experience includes graphic and layout design, media development, photography, videography, web programming, and project management. Darin Faber’s nominations and awards include the Capital Educators Award, ATA Teacher Award, Dianne Bloor Part-time Faculty Award, ACCC Award, and the Stars of the City Award.


Craig Clark, Professor

Craig Clark is a multimedia specialist, digital strategist and artist, and is an alumni of the Interactive Media Management program. Besides teaching at Algonquin College, he manages multimedia projects at a national NGO, works freelance and volunteers his skills to community organizations. Craig’s work primarily focuses on web development, illustration and the strategic use of digital communication. He is an award-winning artist and has received a Government and Technology (GTEC) Award for his work on bringing digital services to indigenous communities. Craig is an advocate for accessibility and inclusive design and has spoken on these issues internationally. When he isn’t working, Craig enjoys gardening, painting and getting lost in sci-fi and fantasy stories.


Amel Dedic, Professor

Amel is a freelance web developer/designer and a professor at Algonquin College. He has been teaching web scripting at Algonquin since Winter 2014. Amel is a graduate of the Interactive Media Management program from 2009. Additionally, Amel graduated from the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia) in 1997 with a degree in Industrial Engineering and worked as an industrial engineer until 2004 when Amel and his family moved from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Canada. Also, Amel has an extensive industry background as a front-end developer.


Samar ElAmir, Professor

Samar ElAmir holds a bachelor of Arts in English literature from the University of Alexandria, Egypt, and a Master of Science in Information Technology from the University of Nottingham, UK. She joined the Interactive Media Management program at Algonquin College in 2014 and graduated with honours in 2015. After five years as a Motion Graphics Designer at Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Egypt, she is now a professor of Graphic Applications and Motion Graphics. She also has an extensive background as the UX/UI testing coordinator at Service Canada.


Jessica Jackson, Professor

Jessica is a graphic designer, digital illustrator, and print media-specialist. As a graduate of the University of Toronto’s Art and Art History joint Honours program with Sheridan College, she trained in many art disciplines, from traditional painting and drawing to modern digital designing. She was awarded the Faculty Print Media Award for excellence in printmaking. She is also an alumnus of the Interactive Media Management program, where she acquired skillsets that allowed her to build websites and create engaging motion graphics. In the field, she spent years working with event directors, including the Xterra World Championship, to develop their printed material. Her vast media-background also includes web design, video, photography, and branding projects. In her spare time, she designs t-shirts, gets lost in books and brings a camera down hiking trails. She enjoys sharing her knowledge and hopes to inspire her students to create and develop with gusto.
