Meet the Faculty

Denine Wrixon, Second Year Coordinator

Denine is the Second Year Coordinator and Academic Advisor to students enrolled in their final year of the photography program. She started freelancing in 1994 and graduated from Algonquin College in 1996.

Her photography career covers many aspects of the industry, from live concert photography and professional sports, to portrait and wedding coverage, with a specialty in portraiture. She has been a member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) since 2005 and Professional Photographers of Ontario (PPO) since 1995.

Jason Machinski, First Year Coordinator

Jason is the FIrst Year Coordinator and Academic Advisor to students enrolled in their first year of the photography program.

A graduate of the Algonquin Photography Program, Jason also has a Bachelor of Arts from Carleton University. Formerly the owner of both a wedding and commercial photography and multimedia studio. He brings his experience as a photographer and designer to both the classroom and studio.

Michael Bowie, Professor

Michael Bowie graduated from the Algonquin Photography Program in 1978. Since graduation, he has been working as a commercial photographer, and operating a custom photographic printing business. In 1983, he incorporated Lux Photo, and has been providing clients, galleries and museums with traditional and digital photographic services.

Michael has been teaching part-time at Algonquin since 1979 and returns to the college as a full-time member of the Photography Department.

Tracy Byers Reid, Professor

Tracy is a full time professor of photography at Algonquin College. A graduate of Humber College’s Creative Photography Program, Tracy also holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts from Ryerson – School of Image Arts. While she has photographed a wide variety of projects, for 11 years she was on staff as a hardline and off figure photographer at PiMedia, a commercial and catalogue studio in Toronto. Prior to joining Algonquin’s Photography Program, Tracy was a part time faculty member at Durham College in Oshawa where she taught in a variety of programs.

Trevor Pearson, Professor

Trevor is a Full Time Professor in the Photography Program. He is a graduate of the Algonquin Photography Program and also has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Hertfordshire.

Since graduation, Trevor has worked alongside industry leading professionals. He has a sharp eye for detail and a thorough understanding of the latest techniques. Trevor also has experience in web and multimedia design. Trevor brings practical, hands on experience to classroom and studio.

Angelina Dunn, Professor

Angelina graduated from Algonquin’s Photography program in 2004, and went on to shoot for a local studio where she specialized in portrait and wedding photography.

In 2007 she moved to Toronto to expand her knowledge, and work in the hub of Canada’s commercial photo industry. Angelina’s freelance work quickly extended into post-production, retouching for both studios and personal clients. Angelina was honoured to join the Algonquin Photography team in 2009. She teaches Digital Imaging 3 & 4 and Portrait Workshop.

Ryan McCosham, Technician

Ryan is one half of the team of Equipment Technicians for the program. They are responsible for the maintenance, upkeep and replacement for the equipment and the studios.

He graduated from the Algonquin Photography program in 2007, and has since worked with magazines, modelling agencies and museums. Ryan continues to work in the field today, though focusing more on event coverage and personal work.
