A bold new advertising campaign for Algonquin College

Algonquin BusOttawa — Algonquin College is rolling out a new brand-awareness campaign that underscores its commitment to personalized education, experiential learning, innovation and entrepreneurship.

“We are really excited to show off this new campaign,” said Algonquin President Cheryl Jensen. “It highlights the strengths of our students and faculty and also the core values that make Algonquin College a leading post-secondary.”

The campaign, which features stark, black and white portraits of people from around the College, emphasizes how one individual is connected to another, with the overall perception that they form a cohesive and mutually beneficial force for change.

“Based on Algonquin College’s new Strategic Plan, the philosophy behind the campaign is one of change,” said Alex Beshara, Acting Brand Manager and also the creative mind behind the campaign. “That theme is best illustrated by our people, who facilitate change through relationships with one another and the community.”

Beshara said the campaign will focus on the idea of change on campus as well as changes the College’s graduates will bring to the community and farther afield. The six main themes will be:

  • Changing Lives
  • Changing Futures
  • Changing Expectations
  • Changing Opportunities
  • Changing Education
  • Changing the World

Individuals featured in the first wave of the campaign also contribute short, bold quotes that demonstrate the opportunities and mindset of the college.

“We spark entrepreneurial spirit,” says Sandra, a mechanical engineering professor. She stands next to Christian, a biotech student who simply states, “I found my fire.”

The campaign, which will be seen across Ottawa and beyond, is just beginning and will feature fresh content throughout 2017. It is now featured prominently on the College’s website, at key locations on campus and also in public spaces such as billboards and on advertising space in public transit.
