Student Experience
The Business Intelligence System Infrastructure (BISI) program is a collaboration between Algonquin College and IBM. Students from across the province and from various scientific, technical, and business backgrounds have been attracted to Business Intelligence (BI) to refresh and upgrade their skills in an evolving field. The collection of student backgrounds found in the program provides a rich environment to discuss and share practical experiences while learning the technical infrastructure that supports BI in organizations.
BISI graduates have gone on to jobs in both public and private sectors, including all levels of Government, and many large and small corporate entities. For many graduates, their experience with a co-op term has provided important experience, assisting them in the job market. Over the years many employers have sought out BISI co-op students and graduates familiar with IBM, Cognos, and Oracle software.
Student and graduate feedback has indicated that many have enjoyed the breadth and depth of their experience; learning more about programming, networking, operating systems, statistics, databases, and business, and how it all fits together to provide accurate organizational information, helping to prepare for the future.
