Algonquin Times runner-up in Ontario campus newspaper competition

The Algonquin Times placed second in the annual campus newspaper general excellence competitions, finishing just behind University of Waterloo Imprint, but ahead of Niagara College, Ryerson University, Humber College and Centennial College. The results were announced at the Ontario Community Newspapers Association annual convention in Vaughan, Ontario on Friday, April 4.

Judge Gordon Cameron, Managing Editor of the Hamilton Community News group of papers and president of OCNA, said the Times: “is a good read, packed with well-written student-relevant news and features. The photography was the best in the category with creative takes on shots to illustrate stories.”

The Times was just short of a three-peat, having placed first in this same competition over the last two years.

The issues judged were published April 4, 2013 and November 22, 2012.
