Content Delivery and Learning Activities

It’s important that you try to maintain a sense of community and engagement for your learners, to overcome the sense of isolation that everyone will feel in this virtual environment. These resources explore ways to build connection for your learners, with you and with each other.

Where do I begin?

What do you wish to do? Technology Solutions (see Tools for Delivery for all how-to guides) Tips and Resources
Lecture or present content
  • Use Zoom to present live or to record your lecture with slides.
  • Use Zoom to create a live webcast and record it for reuse.
  • Record short content videos (using Zoom, Brightspace, phone, etc.)
  • Find supplementary/complementary resources to share with students (TED, LinkedIn Learning, YouTube, podcasts, etc.)
Share content
  • Upload files to Brightspace
  • Post links in Brightspace to external files
  • Embed or post links to videos in Brightspace (Zoom Recordings, YouTube, LinkedIn Learning, TED, etc.)

Class discussion
Meet with learners
  • Use the Zoom waiting room to admit learners one at a time
Group work

  • Encourage students to collaborate using Microsoft’s suite of apps (Office 365).
Practical lab alternatives
  • Use simulation resources to nurture on-going skill development, e.g. Merlot or OnlineLabs
  • Use YouTube, LinkedIn Learning, Khan Academy to demonstrate skills
