  • After using the toilet
  • After sneezing or coughing (even if it is into your sleeve)
  • After touching animals
  • After going outside
  • Before handling food and eating
  • After smoking
  • After handling dirty utensils, or objects

Top Tips for Healthy Hands

  • Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available
  • Cover any cuts with a water-resistant dressing (you don’t want germs getting in!)
  • Keep your hands away from your eyes, nose, and mouth
  • Assume that contact with any human body fluids in infectious (i.e. sneezing)

Avoid These Common Mistakes

  • Don’t use a common washcloth or hand towel – always use a disposable towel
  • Don’t use sponges or non-disposable cleaning cloths unless you launder them on a regular basis.
