Is this program for you?
You are best suited for this program if you enjoy working with people, are open-minded, are empathetic, have excellent communication skills, self-awareness and sensitivity, and are team-oriented, with strong analytical and writing skills.

How can I get accepted in to the program?
To be eligible for this program you must have completed a college diploma or university degree in a related discipline.

Is this program offered part-time online?
Yes, the program is offered part-time online. You can begin taking courses part-time and apply them to the full-time program. However, it is not possible to take all of the courses in one term through Distance Education. The courses offered will fluctuate each term.

Is the practicum completed alongside the courses or is it after all the courses have been completed?
You are not required to find your own field placement. If you are taking the program online, you must complete all courses before registering for the practicum. In the full-time program, most placements run through the month of April serving as coursework; however, some placements may commence earlier on a part time basis, and run as late as May.

What kind of career opportunities are available when I graduate?
Depending on the degree of your experience and credentials job opportunities will vary. A few examples of where graduates have found employment are: the federal government, an Indigenous health centre, a national victim advocacy centre, and a national program assisting offenders.

What are the advantages or benefits of having this graduate certificate? What is the difference between this graduate certificate program and a diploma?
The Victimology program is designed to supplement your existing diploma or degree with an intense focus on criminal victimization – theories and practical application. This is a graduate certificate with a 146 hour practicum.

Will I need to purchase a computer?
This is a mobile learning program and you are required to supply and use a laptop or mobile learning device that meets or exceeds the recommended hardware requirements as designated by the program. Specifications are outlined here.
