FOPLA Award for Diversity and Equity in Public Librarianship

This award was created by the Friends of the Ottawa Public Library Association (FOPLA) to support racialized or Indigenous students to pursue their education and careers in an essential library sector, public libraries.

The FOPLA Award for Diversity and Equity in Public Librarianship is given to a student who self-identifies as a member of a racialized or Indigenous community with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and enrolled in their first semester of the Library and Information Technician program.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants must be registered full-time
  • Applicants must have a minimum of 3.0 grade point average
  • Domestic (Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person/convention refugee) students are encouraged to apply
  • Applicants must be enrolled in their first semester of the Library and Information Technician program offered at the Ottawa Campus

Instructions:

  • Applicants must add their Social Insurance Number via their ACSIS account in order to be awarded funding.
  • Applicants will be required to submit a 250-word essay
  • All applicants will be notified of a decision by email after the deadline
